Texas EAGALA Networking Retreat Information
This networking retreat is for:
Counselors, psychologists, social workers, marriage & family therapists, psychiatrists, addiction counselors, horse professionals and enthusiasts, correctional workers, coaches, educational consultants, employee assistance programs, residential program directors and staff, students, educators and anyone interested in enriching and changing lives through equine! We welcome all, Eagala Certified, or not.
About our facilities:
Shepherd’s Pasture Retreat and Conference Center opened in the early 1980’s. It is a Christian retreat and conference center set on 24 beautiful acres of whispering piney woods, streams, trails and pastureland in East Texas. Check out their website for specific information regarding amenities (www.ShepherdsPasture.com).
As the name suggest, Shepherd’s Pasture is a retreat center. Attendees will have four days; three nights stay with eight meals from this facility. To keep cost down rooms are shared, dorm style. Shepherd’s Pasture provides linens and pillows. You are welcome to bring a refillable drinking container, a lawn chair and anything that helps you to feel more at home. For example, although Shepherd’s pasture provides pillows, I bring my personal pillow because it helps me to feel more at home.

Ross Wyatt Fairchild will present the hoof is the book to the horse's body.
What is a healthy hoof? How does an unhealthy hoof effect the overall tensegrity of the horse? Joint integrity? Physical & mental soundness? Trainability? Receptivity? Willingness?
What environmental factors may limit a horse's genetic potential?
How do we recognize these subtle changes in the horses’ attitude? Performance? How to avoid misconstruing 'bad attitude or behavior' for pain? Do horses lie?
Our goal is to ensure every horse has the greatest opportunity to succeed no matter the equine discipline. Our goal is to optimize each horse's level of both physical & mental soundness thereby increasing trainability, performance, willingness, receptivity and consistency in the arena, on the ranch or down the trail.
